Roaring Camp Railroads

Roaring Camp Railroads features the most true to form and oldest preserved steam engines still in service in the country. This unique adventure takes passengers to a trip back in time on scenic steam engine train rides through Santa Cruz Mountains, Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, the San Lorenzo River Gorge all the way to the Pacific coast beaches at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

The Town of Roaring Camp

Discover life in the 1880’s at the recreated working town of Roaring Camp. Located only six mile from Santa Cruz, this historic spot give you a peek of life in this logging town with old time activities, including train rides, golf panning, candle making, horseshoes, blacksmithing and shopping at the general store.


  • Are there any trains that take me to the Santa Cruz beach coast?

    Yes. Hop on the Santa Cruz Beach Train and wind through Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, the San Lorenzo River Gorge, and end up at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
  • What type of train routes can you choose to go on?

    The Redwood Forest Steam Train takes you on the Big Tree Narrow-Gauge and Roaring Camp railroad for a one hour and fifteen minute excursion to Bear Mountain. The Pacific Railway Company and Santa Cruz Beach Train take you on tours from Roaring Camp to the Santa Cruz Beach.
